Ever feel like jumping off a roof or slitting your wrists or falling on a sword for doing something stupid? This morning at Tackett's a lady and I approached a vehicle simultaneously. She's took the back, and I got in the front. As soon as I got in, I looked over to the driver to say good morning. Much to my shock and horror, I recognize her as "Volvo Lady Driver," whom I've previously ridden with and warned you about in an October 14th post. Since that particular ride, I've kept a close eye out for that Volvo.
I noticed an Enterprise rental car key fob in the ignition. I don't know what happened to the Volvo. At this point, it doesn't matter - I'm too busy nursing my whiplash. Here I'd been so CAREFUL in looking for the CAR, but not the driver... After she dropped us off at the Pentagon, the lady in the back seat and I exchanged, "Good LORDS!" and discovered we'd both ridden with her before. Both of us watch for her Volvo. She told me she didn't realize it was her until she heard her voice, which was commenting on me being another crossword puzzle fan (I was working on one). We had a good laugh at being duped and exchanging experiences as we walked towards the building. I told her I'd posted about her to slug-lines.com, which she hadn't heard about but was going to visit first thing. The car she's currently driving is a light blue Ford; didn't catch the model - sorry! |

Katie,
Did she still drive the way you described in the previous thread? I'm sure I would get violently ill if someone drove like that, and probably feel better when I puked on her seats. http://www.slug-lines.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1667 |

MDC - Yep! Still the same. You should see the letters in my crossword puzzle boxes -- one would think I had Parkinson's disease they're so wobbly. And yes, the elements for a projectile vomit event were all in place; high heat, jerky ride, focusing on small print, and THEN, as we neared the Pentagon, the smell of gas from the tanker explosion this morning.
Now I have a headache, but think that's whiplash associated. Doesn't help that the inside of the Pentagon smells like gas fumes. They eventually shut down the air intakes after the explosion, but not soon enough... It's always something around here! |

You're right, Rob. Don't quite see how the "could be worse" comments apply to a story about how we tend to watch out for certain cars, rather than the person behind the wheel, and then feel stupid.

KatieM, Questionable, but I think those "could be worse" comments are meant to make you feel better [:)].

ktzmom - I wasn't comparing a fatal accident with a ride from a bad driver! I was stating that fumes and smoke from the fire had been sucked into the nearby air intake vents at the Pentagon and the whole building reeked of gas. I'm sorry your hyper-sensitity interpreted what I wrote as making light of Parkinson's or a traffic fatality.
