i think there are alot of people who go from Rte 3 to DC and visa versa in the afternoon. I think they go by the pentagon in the afternoon becuase there is no where to pick up Rte 3 slugs in dc. It would be great if we could start a line but the drivers would have to know about otherwise we'd end up going to the pentagon like everyone else.

Crabber, I live close to Rt. 3 and would LOVE to get a Rt. 3 - DC and DC - Rt. 3 line going. I've tried 610, but I don't leave work until 5pm and I'm afraid of not being able to get a ride. My boyfriend, who is also a rider, would love this as well - so there is interest!!!

Try 610 then crabber. Boatloads of DC slugs there. Probably where most of your RT3 DC crowd have started going to find rides.
Keep slugging alive - tip your driver today! |

I'm new to slugging. I've been asking slugs daily at Rt 3 to go anywhere on 14th street with no luck... Confidence is low so I pick up Pentagoners and go. I go to 14th and H. I definitely have interest in starting a line on both 14th and Rt 3.

I am trying to find a ride from Rte. 3 or 208 for the next day and week or so in order to volunteer with the REd Cross. If anyone is taking a slug into the city or Pentagon - I'd love a ride.

I would recommend you start by hitting Rt 3 and announcing your D.C. destination, stating whether you might be willing to make two or three stops (constitution, 14th and g, etc. - check the maps on the front page of this site). If you like the people who climb in with you, let them know you'll pick up at location X at a particular time. Also advertise in all the forums that you'll pick up at the 14th and G Rt 17 line for Rt 3. (Rt 17 lines seem t be pretty short downtown). After a few days of grabbing DC riders out of Rt 3, they'll start looking for you, and if other drivers know you have slugs downtown, they'll stop by there first.
Pretty soon you have a slug line. More formal instructions for forming a line can also be found on the site. |

So how would one go about generating interest?

14th and G seems to have a Rt 17 line.
I pick up a lot of slugs from Rt 3 going to D.C. by way of the Pentagon. There should be some interest. |
