Does anyone have any constructive advice to new slugs about what to do when it snows? Tends to happen every year.

Leave work at 3:30 to get to the slug line. That way, you'll be sure to get a ride.

Wear shoes/boots that will keep your feet dry! Slush in your shoes is very cold and uncomfortable.
But, keep on sluggin'![:)] |

4WD gets you to the scene of the accident sooner. Does NOT enhance braking.
The most important safety action one can take is to tighten up the loose nut behind the wheel. Also would help conserve fuel too. NoSb SOV because you can, HOV because you care! |

Not necessarily. I drive very defensively, and when snow days hit, I plan 2hrs extra, on TOP of the extra amount of time because of the weather, because I know I'll spend extra time pulling people from parking lots and ditches the whole way home. Granted, I suppose I might be setup for snow a little better than most, with larger tires, chains if needed, tow straps/hooks and a winch, plus, at least in the winter, close to 5,000lbs worth of vehicle and accessories to weight it down in the snow. But those are just things I wouldn't go without in those situations. Shame others can't follow the lead.

Hey fryed1, not everyone has a truck where they can put that many pounds on the vehicle to keep them weighted down. Try putting that much on a car and see what happens. Besides 4WD doesn't mean squat when it comes to ice. Snow, yes it works, but ice is ice no matter how much weight there is and chains don't do much on ice either. The best solution is just take public transportation. People around this area cannot drive when snow or ice hits and that's even those people who say they are from areas where they get snow and ice alot. I do like watching the SUVs in the ditch from the METRO because those people think they have the ultimate winter vehicle.
