Actually, SOV hybrids really doesn't make that big of a difference. Did you notice the regular lanes this morning? Did you see how they were at <10 mph while the express lanes were only down to 55 mph? The drop of (legal limit) 10 mph (actually, usually you can go 70, so the drop is 15) was just rain. Happens in every metropolitan area. And they don't have the whining about SOV hybrids.

NoSUV is either lying, or doesn't use the HOV lanes. If NoSUV used the HOV lanes 2-3 years ago and more, NoSUV couldn't say anything like this.

Wrong on both counts. What does using Express lanes 2-3 years ago have to do with speeds being achieved today if the speeds achieved are at or above the legal speed limit? Tues was 10 mph below legal limit from rain; today was at or above most of the way on I-395. Today I entered at 0641 at Edsall and got to the Potomic 10 minutes later. Had 1 slowdown to 45 mph around exit 7 and then to 55 mph near the Pentagon exit. Regular lanes, per normal, moving 10 - 25 mph until exit 4. Regular lanes were open to exit 5, then slow to exit 7.

MDC - it must really bother you when the truth doesn't match your preconceptions.

The ride on the 395 HOV lanes is nothing like it was three years ago, but it's true that you don't slow much below 45MPH on most days until you're at the Pentagon.

But I have to agree with you that the ride on 395 in the HOV lanes isn't as bad as it is on 95. 2-3 days per week the main lanes are faster than HOV between the Occoquan River and Springrield these days.

Ahhh, welcome back discussions of reason, I have been in late almost every day this week and last. I think we all got used to less traffic because of the holidays. Back to reality I guess. So sad. At least my new supervisor doesnt hold it against me, my previous one made me take 1 hr of annual everytime I was more than 5 minutes late!!! AND complained about me to her boss! Like I can control traffic. BS I say!!

Are they still installing speed bumps in the HOV lanes? This seems like it would slow down the already slow traffic.

It's supply and demand -- simply supply and demand, Stupid! [:)]
Either increase the supply of lanes, or decrease the demand. [;)]
