The problem with limiting the description to the characteristics of the car/driver comes back to the point I made in a previous post in another thread. Unless there is a very unique characteristic (grey door on black car) that makes a vehicle stand out, there are many cars that look similar, especially in the dark hours of the morning (black, dk. blue, dk. green all look black). Descriptions based on gender and race can encompass a large community. The only thing truly unique is the license plate number.
Face it, people are going to do things that bug us. Drivers are going to do things slugs don't like, and slugs are going to do things drivers don't like. If the problem is serious and dangerous, the community should be made aware so others might protect themselves. If folks decide they want to post nit-picky things, each of us can choose for ourselves whether it's important enough to pass on the ride/slug. IMO, if I can get more detailed info, I can make a better decision. In the words of an old cartoon, "Now I know, and knowing is half the battle". |

Hello - I'm a new slug and new to this page so bear with me. Thanks for sharing this information. I do think it is wise to post the "do not ride" cars, tag numbers, details etc. I slug from Horner to 14th & Penn and have met nothing but the best drivers and travelled in overall, very safe, well maintained vehiclesx. Slugging home is the same. Stay safe and whereever Uhura is, I'm a Kirkbabe too! MK

KNLNGUS- what exactly does that stand for, because, phonetically, it sounds a little dirty and innapropriate to me. Just wondering.

You guys are again ranting on this forum when the purpose of this forum is to inform other slugs/drivers about the "DO NOT RIDE LIST". If you want to rant and rave, start another forum (it's quite easy to do) and do your ranting there. The sole purpose of this one is to warn people about unsafe/unsanitary conditions. There is nothing wrong with posting as much information about an unsafe driver because that is the only way the other slugs will know who to steer clear of. KNLNGUS, you stated that if you have an unsafe or uncomfortable ride home that you make a mental note of it and don't ride with that person again. Don't you think that if someone is an unsafe driver that others should benefit from that knowledge, not just yourself? Had you known about that particular driver due to this forum, you maybe wouldn't have ridden with them in the first place? Don't forget that we are a team and we need to look out for one another and not just be selfish and only think about yourself!! Now let's move this conversation to another thread and stick to the "DO NOT RIDE LIST" (and yes, please include the plate numbers whenever possible).

The purpose of this thread was to report drivers who were unsafe drivers or the vehicle was a garbage can.
Any other gripe like the music being too loud or not the right station is a vent. I just want everyone to be safe/clean and aware. [;)] Dina |

quote: You should have ridden in the car I got stuck in last week--driver kept adjusting the radio volume up and Up and UPPPPPP until it was so loud I couldn't make out the words. Of course I was in the back and ONLY the back speakers were in use. The fattest fingers in my ears couldn't have blocked that hearing-compromising (read: safety) noise pollution out. Fortunately, I think she slowed down to 80 only once or twice, so the ride was quick [:)] |

quote: SlugBuddy. Yes Daddy. BUT... Uhm. Well. Doah. You obviously did not read my 1st post on page 7. I specifically wrote: "I agree with posting comments about situations which can make someone feel uncomfortable." and went on further to say... "No one can prevent anyone from posting information concerning someone's vehicle description or tag number AND perhaps this may be the best way to get the information out. I think an accurate description of the person, make & model, offense, and destination is enough. BUT, I'm willing to bet that there is a whole lot of embellishing in posts. Embellishing everything from speed, to smell, to cleanliness, you name it. Why, because we are all perfect here at Slug-Lines.com! We all drive an immaculate 47k 2004 Lexus and our own driving behavior is so impeccable that we are afforded the opportunity to complain about a good thing and when we complain we always find a way to put the nicest twist or spin on our post that reflects truth with such tact and diplomacy." So get off your pedestal SlugBuddy. If you haven't gotten the gist of what I was saying then you won't get it. In addition to many members saying that they are less apt to remember a specific license plate number - I AM SAYING I THINK POSTING SOMEONE'S LICENSE PLATE IS A BIT EXCESSIVE. Do you hear me now. Whether no one will remember a license plate (which does have truth to it) OR that others feel posting a license plate might be a bit excessive is great. It shows us that other people do not think EXACTLY like you do. As if. Doah. quote: Uhura, I meant to thank you for commenting on the Handle. Thanks! And your response to getmehome pweeze is hilarious. |
