Add this one to the list...this one is for folks at Route 17 going to L'Enfant. This morning I had the displeasure of riding with two people who I begrudgingly admit that I had trouble with before. Upon recognizing them, my mind said "pass", but my feet said "go" and the next thing I knew I was in their car (maybe because it was raining?).

First of all, these people don't use the slug line often...maybe every three weeks (which is why my memory was a big foggy when trying to decide whether to ride with them or not -- and I hadn't had my coffee) because they usually carpool with the same three people and only use the slug line when one of them has the day off.

Anyhoo, as most of you know the HOV was backed up thanks to rubberneckers watching a brokedown car being towed, the rain, and one-sies using the HOV. After wading through that mess, the driver of this vehicle decided to try to make up time by weaving through lanes, tailgating, menacing motorcyclists, and blowing red lights. It was pretty scary...I found myself bracing for impact about four or five times.

To make a long story medium, it was all topped off by them asking me if dropping me off three blocks away from L'Enfant Plaza was okay (did I mention it was raining?). I admit that I'm an idiot because I've let them do this to me before but I thought that with the rain and all that they might give me a little more consideration this time. What was even funnier about it all was that they even asked me where I needed to go and their basic response was, "that's nice...we're going to drop you here instead." That isn't what was actually said...that's just what was basically said in not so many words.

Anyways, here the important info for you to know...Gray Chrysler Sebring convertible (black top) claiming to go to L'Enfant but will drop you at 7th and Independence whether you like it or not. Driver is young with short hair and sports a goatee (could someone please tell him that goatees were so ten years ago and that they weren't even cool back then, let alone EVER?)

Have a fabulous holiday...hope you all get a chuckle from this.

K.O.

I used to work with this guy...he no longer works for my company. I think it is a good idea not to ride with him.

quote:

There is a driver that picks up riders at 610. He drives a white late model suv (4x4 I think),stickers on the back windows warning of working dogs (like police), license plate 1LILBRO. He drove me and two other people home last month from the GSA pick up spot. Before he passed the Pentagon he was doing 85 mph! With both front windows down and rap music blaring. The bad thing was - well another bad thing- was he was falling asleep! At one point in time he hit 95MPH! At that point I pulled out my cell to call the police. He saw me and slowed down AND lowered the rear window to make sure I was really blown out!

Thanks for starting this. I have had only one bad experience and I cannot remember the vehicle enough to describe it. (It happened in the summer and I was new to slugging and didn't know where to report it.) The driver was talking to the front seat passenger and waving his hands around, not keeping one on the wheel. Luckily, the car didn't hit anything in the road to jerk the wheel. I haven't seen him again. They picked up at Pentagon and dropped me at 610.

I have heard second hand that there is a woman who picks up regularly at 610 and does not get on I95. She wants 'company' on the ride and winds up taking twice as long to get there because of the route she takes. I haven't had the experience, but if it is true, I would appreciate the people who experienced it reporting it and describing the vehicle so we can be aware of it.

Barbara I heard of this woman. I think she drives a Green Camaro, and is an older lady.

Wow this lady is still doing this, I first heard of her last year she was picking people up at Potomac Mills. One guy one telling me about the experience said it took them until 10:00 to reach the drop off point, he said that when they brought it to her attention that she was on the wrong side she responded," I don't like to drive over there they drive to fast" He also said she seemed to be just looking for company, but honestly I can't even explain how angry I would be if I came across that situation, so be on the look out!!!

A ride is a ride? Apparently you don't care about reckless drivers or the safety of others or yourself. Feel free "insidebeltway," but if you have to ask what everyone is complaining about...

You must be joking!!!!!! Are you, perchance, one of the reckless and thoughtless drivers? I for one want others to share their experiences. Your safety is not worth getting into a car with a reckless driver - there is always another driver. (Maybe you need more sleep. You make absolutely NO sense.)
