The Cops were out this morning giving "warnings" to slugs crossing Old Keene Mill from the Springfield Plaza to the Bob's Slug line. All the slugs playing the live version of 8 lane frogger were getting a warning by two cops parked in the lot.

The Warning was good for today but they assert they will start to ticket for real beginning Monday next week.

Here's an easy fix ... extend the existing 3-foot high Jersey barricade in the middle of OKM to the west, all the way to the intersection and erect a 4-foot chain link fence on top of the barricade. Then the jaywalking slugs will have to go to the crosswalk, and hopefully cross with the green light.

Glad the police are there, they just may save someone's life.

I saw the cops at Circuit City. I thought they were there to keep the cars from blocking the entrance. The past few days have been crazy trying to get in and out of the parking lot to pick up riders. Haven't figured out why the Memorial Bridge drivers don't follow what the 14th Street drivers do when there are no riders. Has anyone asked them to park their cars if there are no riders? Just curious.

A couple of things:

Sludge - the same fools that risk their lives running across OKM in the middle of the block in the face of oncoming traffic will do the same thing at the crosswalk. Fools will be fools... (btw - love the Frogger reference)

Jody - not to my knowledge have Memorial Bridge drivers parked their cars like the other lines drivers. Maybe there's more room on the Memorial Bridge side? And because they approach from the back as opposed to the front, maybe there's no need - 5-6 cars can line up with no problem as opposed to the other side.

What screws things up is drivers approaching the lines from 2 sides. That's particularly bad at the 14st side because it reduces the amount of space cars have to get through there.

Two Fairfax County Police cruisers were there at 6:15 this morning. Looks like they have gotten serious about jaywalking enforcement and saving a life there. A public safety salute to the Fairfax County Police!

There have been too many close calls at "Bob's" where jaywalking slugs almost got splatted on what colossus911 calls a "live 8-lane Frogger" game.

Now, let's see when a barricade will be constructed to force the jaywalkers to go to the crosswalk at the intersection.

They actually cited someone around 6:30ish. The policeman jaywalked to the median to write the ticket.

I can't be certain but... my cousin's, sister's, boyfriend's, uncle claims to have heard the cop say "well, 238 more of these here tickets and we'll finally have enough to build that barricade..."

They don't need a barricade; just pour a line of salt and the little sluggies will have to go around it. [:D]

Friday be here!

Yeah, salt might work. simply extending the medican 20 feet to close that hole would be better.

The funniest thing this morning, with 4 cops there some big pickup truck u-turned at the end of the barricade while two slugs were crossing. The cops stood there and waited for the slugs to come accross and give them warnings instead of going after the truck making the illegal U.

If we slugs have to walk 10-15 minutes out of our way, I propose moving the slug line to the other side of the road. The weather has been nice but when it is raining or 90 degree plus weather, walking an extran 15 minutes is not cool. Frogger or no frogger ;)
