On snow emergency days the OmniRide will pick up at the lots and take you to the Springfield Metro station for free and pick you up in the evening there, also free of charge and take you back to the commuter lots. However, you do have to pay for your metro ride.

quote: Dont count on it. Metro has changed its policies. When the snow gets deep enough Metro has announced it won't operate rail service on above ground lines. That includes Springfield. Check out http://www.wmata.com/riding/snow/snowmap.cfm Hug a slug today |

quote: Advice for snow days? Not limited to slugs? Things that should be done but haven't been? 1. Better weather forecasting and earlier decisions on closing schools, roads and government offices. 2. Better evacuation procedure. Does your agency have a timed release based on distance from workplace? Without those two, better forecasting and timed release, living with the as built situation, brings forth emphasis of things already given. Bundle up. Promote slugging. Stay home. Ask the drive alones to make an exception on snow days and take a passenger. How are your promoting sluggging? dickboyd@aol.com |
