Dan,
How about posting the governor's response you indicate you would post on your blogspot--or better yet, how about on this site too? Am interested in his reply.

We heard on the news while driving home tonight that Virginia signed a contract today for the HOT lane construction from Springfield on the I-495 beltway toward Tysons Corner/Potomac River Veterans Bridge. Completion scheduled for 2013.

VDOT has made their final recommendation regarding I395 HOT lanes. This give-away of a public asset, which amounts to highway robbery, includes the right to charge tolls in ANY amount necessary to guarantee a profit with NO CAP, and the right to charge tolls on HOVs if the number of HOVs increases.

And here's another tidbit: the new HOT lanes will be built in part with about $400 million of public money. This means that we paid to build the roads the first time, we will pay again now, AND we will pay later to use the roads that we will have already paid for twice!

The only entity that does not pay in this deal is VODT, oh, and of course Flour-Transurban (who will be way to busy counting their toll revenues $$)
