quote: Becky, Have you noticed the speed of the regular lanes compared to the express lanes during HOV hours? Yes, they are moving SLOWER. Do you know why they move slower? I'll give you a hint - it's not because the hybrid SOVs are in there. You can be sure that at least some of the SOV hybrid drivers fall into the same category as the drivers currently in the regular lanes - that means that ending the hybrid exemption only makes matters worse for the majority of commuters. Ending the hybrid exemption only accelerates the need for HOT to balance the congestion between regular and express lanes during HOV hours. By the way, the lanes were created for buses, not autos - extension of your arguement would go back to that pre-1974 condition. |

NoSUV,
Thanks for answering my initial morbid inquiry of you. FYI – Congressman Tom Davis at a HOA meeting this year said he would seek to not renew the exemption for non-HOV3 hybrids. Maybe we’ll ride together one day. I'll even tip you. |

Well this sucks. I had a rep call me at home for Kaine and he said to me, no Kaine does not support HOT. I can see from the link this is not true. If a demo supports HOT you know the republican is. I guess we go w/ the lesser of 2 evils. These are politicians for you.

No SUV's:
I bet your a hybrid owner. I have been coummuting from Stafford to the Pentagon for 19 years, I seen it worse and better. Lately, it's not better but not as bad as in late 80's and early 90's! If hybrid owners want to help the enviroment, that's great - pick up two more riders and make it even better for the enviroment. And yes I do see the regular lanes and the HOV lanes do move most of the time faster. I've also seen it when the HOV restrictions are lifed and at 6:00 pm too. Have you noticed the congestion? Well if HOT lanes go in effect "Congestion and Grid Lock" will be the game! |

quote: I wonder just what the number of commuters in the main line is compared to the HOV lanes? Is the majority [of commuters] in the HOV or the mainline? I suspect the majority [of vehicles] is in the mainline--that is deduced by looking to the right as NoSUV suggests. And in anticipation of a comment about buses, yes, buses only could accommodate even more commuters in fewer vehicles. To repeat for those who missed it the first couple times: HOT is a reality as politicos support whatever financial stream flows the heaviest. Hybrid exemption is safe as politicos support whatever financial stream flows the heaviest. Can't believe what they tell you. They'll say about anything to get themselves elected (even if they genuinely believe it at the time they say it) and then make the case for "extenuating circumstances" when crunch time comes--no matter what issue you put forward. NoSb SOV because you can, HOV because you care! |

Kaine supports taxes for more welfare for liberal transgendered sodomite atheist America haters who want to have an abortion. Because Kaine is HOT for that kind of person. Ask Zell Miller. He resigned from you retards.

Great debate, folks. Well-informed, substantial, and really, really grown-up.
Thanks. |

Thought we weren't supposed to talk politics/religion, etc.? There's two sides to every coin.

You don’t talk politics or religion in the carpool. As to this Message Board since there’s an election on 11/08 we need to talk politics to see who’s the best choice and religion to make sure God hears our prayers that we chose the right one.[8D]
