My request to all users is to remember that this website was created to help other slugs and promote slugging as a commuting alternative. Simply put, I envisioned a message board where slugs helped slugs. Since slugging is somewhat dynamic and new people move in and out of the area, I hoped seasoned slugs would help new slugs with this unusual form of commuting.

Unfortunately, over the past few months some of the postings on this message board have not been helpful and plain mean spirited. The personal attacks have generated complaints from users and recently a person created a username called Admin. (note the period) in an attempt to impersonate me.

I have been extremely selective in deleting postings and banning users from the website. I want to keep a "free speech" forum where people can share their opinion freely. But, some of the posting have stepped over the line and offer nothing constructive (my opinion).

I would simply ask that everyone use this forum to help promote slugging and help create solutions not animosity.

Admin,

As one who has stepped over the line at least once, thanks. The ones you've deleted were spot on and I would encourage you to continue to delete postings that are not constuctive. It's a great way to influence problem posters to change their ways.

Cheers,

Glacier

Wow-you actually spoofed Admin?

I'll admit that I'm no exactly shocked. We have all stepped over the line here I guess.

It's amazing what boredom will do...

It states under Uhura name that this person has 179 posts. I'm sure only a handful of those posts have any significance dealing with what this web site is about - Helping new slugs out and being Pro-slugging. The "cut and paste" replys need to stop.

Ok-everyone: Let's restart the BASH UHURA postings, because we all know that this subject is related to SLUGGING. Baz, your post was certainly on point in this regard.

PS-Would you like some cheese with that whine? The cut & paste replies are a function of the forum. TELL IT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR.

Yes, you are correct in stating that it is a function, I would say option, of this site. However, just as the horn is an available option/function of our cars: it's not there to be used in every situtation or overused.

Just as in putting on make-up, there is a time and place for it all (in moderation).

The above is an example of trying to provide constructive us of the forum. There are no personal attacks like "Would you like some cheese with that whine?"

I think that's what the others are getting at. But, maybe not.

Cheers,

Glacier

Constructive use of the forum? As I said earlier-tell the administrator.

All I do is click to respond & the text from the post I am replying to is already there-but I suppose that's my fault too.

You used make-up as an example but I would liken the function to VIAGRA. There's a time and place for it, and it works best if used in moderation.

By the way-I will continue to leave my responses on the default setting-copied and pasted messages and all. If Admin changes the default format then so be it, but note: I will not be bullied. I think you should know this by know.

Keep up the good work guys-You have nada about slugging to contribute today, & I have trained you so well that you can't visit this site without commenting about me.

By using the Reply to Topic link at the bottom of the page, none of the previous message will appear. This only happens when you use the quick link at the top of the message that you are choosing to reply to.[:D]

"I would simply ask that everyone use this forum to help promote slugging and help create solutions not animosity." - Admin

Please read the first post again if you've forgotten what the purpose of this folder was. If you feel the need to continue this bashing, take it off the boards and email each other in private.

Forget Horner Rd, use Potomac Mills!

Did you know that AOL gives you a new IP address (dynamic assignment) every single time you call in?

That can be really helpful sometimes.

Another useless thread with the back and forth.

Thanks Admin....Will try to get back to that original intention....Although this thread is a blatant example of how things have gone horribly awry.

Yes, the same offenders seem to be at it again. It's best to ignore them.

On another note, I have been in Germany for the past two weeks. The Autobahn is amazing. No slug lines, but there is a rider board which works pretty much the same way (except for the standing around outside). The "lane manners" of the drivers on the Autobahn is incredible. The left lane is only used to pass, which is God's intent.

Oh, it's me, all right. Admin didn't like my old name, for some reason, or my IP either. Luckily AOL gives you a new IP every time you call in. Who knows, Admin might not like this name either. If so, next time I'll come up with something completely different.

See you soon!
