To all:
I just received this email from the Washington Headquarters Services regarding an impact to slugging. Apparently, more information will follow on just how much of an impact there will be. At this point I do not know what the plan is but I will try to find out.

Dear Slug-Lines,
The purpose of this communication is to provide initial information regarding a special event on the Pentagon Reservation that will impact the slug line. On September 11, 2008, the Department of Defense will officially dedicate the new memorial honoring victims of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. There will be phased impacts to traffic, parking, and transportation for the Pentagon Reservation and the greater National Capital Region beginning August 26 through September 20. The Pentagon Reservation parking, slug lines, commuter buses, Metro buses, kiss and drop, and DoD shuttle bus services will be impacted significantly. Additionally, there will be impacts to local roadways. More detailed information regarding these impacts will be provided throughout the month of August on http://www.whs.mil. Beginning August 5, you may visit www.defenselink.mil for information about the Pentagon Memorial Dedication Ceremony.

As of now Martz bus WILL NOT be dropping off or picking up at the Pentagon on 9/11. They will be posting new information for those displaced riders on their website ASAP.

What about slugging from the Pentagon today? I have to meet someone over there and want to time it so I can just catch a ride to Mine Rd around 3 after the meeting is done.

TIA

OPM just issued a letter suggesting all federal government employees work from home or request leave tomorrow due to the numerous road closures.

PRTC is now saying they will run their Emergency Service Plan on the morning of 9/11 due to additional road closures. Thus, all Omnirides will go to the nearest Metro Station (Franconia-Springfield for all I-95 trips).

The latest map I pulled shows that all Northbound HOV will have to exit to Army Navy Drive. Drivers, what does this mean, and how are you adjusting your commute tomorrow?

I'm confused. There's absolutely no access to Washington, D.C. from 395 tomorrow?

I believe 395 is open to DC tomorrow. Everything around the Pentagon will be closed or diverted once you exit 395. If you exit the HOV at the Pentagon, you will have to turn right and drop on Army-Navy drive. Likewise, the exit to the Memorial Bridge will also be closed so getting into DC that way will be limited.

395 South will be diverted onto Rt 1 during a portion of the morning's ceremonies.

So those who slug into the City ssuch as L'enfant,14th st, etc. shouldn't have any problems?

I'm unclear on the HOV access to 14th St. According to the map that GetMeHome linked to, "I-395 Northbound HOV must exit to Army Navy Drive". I don't know how to interpret this. Will regular lanes be allowed through?
