... shouldn't State Officials be allowed to use HOV lanes with no passengers. It seems only right since thier time is so valuable.
I'd rather see them in thier office working for us rather than stuck in traffic.

In a word, "no."

In several words, no, they should be picking up slugs to set a good example for all of humanity, setting the stage for world peace. [;)]

What I do is important too, so I think I should be allowed to use the HOV lanes without passengers. Right? How about drug smugglers? Maybe they should get a free pass too because thousands of junkies are waiting for their fix. How about members of Congress? Lawyers? Indian chiefs? Casino blackjack dealers? All important and busy folks - but I say they can either leave earlier to get to work on time, or they can pile into an HOV like the rest of us peasants. There are already too many exceptions.

How about if all state and federal employees had the exemption. This would work better since our time is the public's time and we ought not have to worry with the traffic or stopping to pick up or slug ourselves. We are special and better than everybody else.

An even better idea would be to allow all cars with 17" wheels onto HOV without restrictions. There's not too many of them now. If it gets crowded, then change the restriction to 17" wheels and 225mm treadwidth.

No WAY!! This is an easy one to answer. Everybody has to go to and from work, learn to deal with it as we do.

I agree that most of us have to go to work .. but do you honestly feel that you work as hard as State Officials ? I think that they along with certain other public servants should get a break. Maybe give them a free pass in the HOV lane for a month or two per year.
Just a small token of our appreciation for thier services.

Absolutely I work as hard. The only reason I have a job is to support a government office full of lazy, waiting-for-a-promotion types pulling down $10-20K a more than I do as a contractor--and they have great bennies. No offense to the hard-working government people I know, and there are plenty, but not in the office I support.

Also, I take my breaks by reading this forum instead of walking out every 15 minutes for a smoke.
