Very un-scientific test in the Wash Post today has slugging barely beating the bus. Drivers would save time and money taking the bus.
But they buried the lead: couple of hours later the commute time was reduced by 66%. Staggered starting times, which cost nothing, would ease traffic much more than billion dollar projects. |

Doesn't that avoid the question: "Why are drivers drivers?" I understand how it would save money, but time?
I used to work 10AM-630PM in DC, which was great commute-wise. I didn't have kids then. I don't think it would work now. |

Thanks for the article. It was really interesting considering I was one of those stuck in traffic on Old Bridge yesterday morning.

"But she [McQuigg] has not taken a position on the I-95 proposal to create high occupancy toll lanes."
Remember, no decision IS a decision. NoSb SOV because you can, HOV because you care! |

That kind of "race" should be mandatory for any official before making transportation decisions! Real eye opener for those who don't commute regularly up I-95.

The slug, and slug driver, beat the bus by 13 minutes, which is not "barely". For a bus to be faster, or as fast, it has to be sure to stop at your destination FIRST. There aren't any busses that stop where I'm going, let alone first.
